5. Appreciation and humility
Knowing that there is meaning, an intelligence behind it all, something beyond the nothingness, leads one to thankfulness. Beyond this we suspect there is more, perhaps an intelligence behind everything. Your deepest yearnings have been answered. You appreciate knowing the truth and are humbled by knowing the truth. You might be disappointed with certain aspects of life, but you are humbled by what you have found.
There is a way to be aware of what is true and still not be thankful or humbled by it. We are not referring to taking a class and just passing a test. We are not talking about learning in a dry or flat manner. Mechanical learning has its place, but can also repel a person from what is profound and real.
Whether the maker is active in our lives or distant and not involved, we are not sure. We sense there is more, that there is life after this life, that we are known intimately, but we can't prove it. Even if we turn to dust and our spirits are no more, we know the prime mover has made it so and we can still be grateful. A spec of meaning is still the opposite of no meaning. If there is more than just a spec, we are again so thankful. No matter what, we appreciate and have humility before the whole design. Silently and secretly we sense and even know there is much more and we are totally humbled.
